Download PBS Kids Themed Jack-o-Lantern Stencils

I was scrolling through Twitter the other day when I stumbled upon a Tweet from a user named Shaylan, who works for a PBS affiliate in Seattle. The tweet was promoting FREE PBS Kids themed Jack-o’-Lantern stencils that could be downloaded and printing right from your home computer.

I love Halloween, it’s easily one of my favorite holidays of the year, but normally I wouldn’t give much thought about a tweet like this. To be completely honest, even though I love this time of year, I actually haven’t carved a pumpkin in years. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, I do, but one of the crippling side effects of getting older, I’ve realized, is that there simply isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done that you want to.

But I’m a dad now and even though my son probably isn’t old enough to appreciate what’s going on right now (although he’s infatuated with a gigantic inflatable dragon on display at Home Depot), should that really stop me from engaging in and sharing these memorable moments with him? In a word, nope!

As I mentioned, I normally wouldn’t give a tweet like this a second thought, but this post snagged my attention when I saw that I could download a stencil for my son’s favorite curious primate, Curious George!

How fun would it be to have a Curious George Jack-o’-Lantern? Well, it’s not spooky, but the idea of seeing my son’s face illuminate brighter than the pumpkin when he sees his favorite cartoon character flicker to life will totally be worth it!

Not to mention, these are the perfect size for the pumpkin we picked at the Connecticut Trolley Museum’s Pumpkin Patch!

If Curious George isn’t your kid’s thing, that’s okay! Other stencils include Daniel Tiger, Peg + Cat, Ready Jet Go, The Cat in the Hat, and more!

So, now I have my plans set for this weekend and I’ll be sure to post photos of the final product on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. If you use one of these stencils for your pumpkin, I’d love to see the results! Post them to our social media pages or send them to me at newenglanddads@gmail.com!
