A couple of weeks ago, I shared this story from the Bangor Daily News about Brock Chadwick, a 7-year old boy from Biddeford, Maine who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer and has undergone multiple surgeries at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland.
In the story, it explained that Halloween is Brock’s favorite holiday and his family asked that if anyone were willing to mail a card to their son, it would lift his spirits during such a difficult time.
When that article was written, Brock’s mom explained that they’d received 30 cards a few packages. Since then, Brock’s story has been spread far-and-wide and was even shared with the Ellen DeGeneres show, Fox News, and many other news outlets resulting in thousands of Halloween cards flooding in to the family.
The support for Brock and his family has been incredible. The Facebook page they established for posting updates on Brock’s condition has exceeded 3,000 followers and based on what they’ve been posting, the community has really come together to help fulfil Brock’s wish for Halloween cards.
If you’d like to help support Brock and his family, there are a few different ways you can do so. First, you can donate to the YouCaring fund which was established to help with his medical bills, or you can send him a card to the following address:
11 McKenney Drive,
Biddeford, ME 04005
